This is a great all-in-one tool for using regularly to get the fire going (including gas) or having as a back up in your survial/bug out kit.
It's designed so it can be used straight away, no other kit required, making it a handy tool to include in your set up. We have designed the length of the lanyard so you can use the striker and keep it attached. No looking for a striker when you need it or need to carry an additional knife/tool with a sharp spine.
With around 3000 C of sparks, sure to help you start a fire in harsh conditions. Bound to last a very long time with potential for 50,000 strikes. Also known as a 'ferrocerium rod or ferro rod'.

We were pretty pleased to discover that it all fits perfectly inside the yellow GEAR MATE 11 (GM11 now included in kit). Spot on solution from protecting it and the rest of your gear, plus harder to loose in the bush! Great gift idea too...
Tip: Like any rod, it comes with a black oxide coating to stop any accidental sparks when transported. So this needs to be removed for the steel to work. Scrape the surface with the striker a few times and the steel will be revealed and you're ready to go. In early use you may want to use gloves to avoid getting the oxide on your hands. Start out lighting cotton wool balls and go from there... have fun with it! Great way for kids to safely learn about fire...
